The list of award-winning films is dominated by Great Freedom of Sebastian meise, which caused a sensation this year after its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, notably winning first prizes at festivals such as Sarajevo and Seville. Chief operator Crystel Fournier and its composers Nils Petter Molvær and Peter Brötzmann were distinguished in their respective categories. The jury justified the prize awarded to Fournier as follows: “the photograph of Great Freedom captures the viewer in the narrowness of the prison cell, while suggesting openness and freedom of mind. “The second prize was explained as follows:” The sparse and daring score of Great Freedom takes us to decades and places, and to the fringes of a rare cinematic experience of which this music is the interface. It is an elegant celebration, while engaging in action, improvisation and insurrection: jazz, resilience and solidarity ”.

Oddly enough, the bulk of the technical EFA winners list is made up of titles that were unveiled this year at Cannes in the Un Certain Regard section. The main winner of this part of the Cannes program, Loose Fists [+lire aussi :
