Film Festival in Pont-Saint-Esprit: Regards de femmes starts this Wednesday on the screens of Ciné 102

The 9th edition of this film festival starts on Wednesday 10 and ends on November 16, notably with a documentary on display dedicated to the young Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.

From the Palme d’Or at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival to the Deauville vintage jury prize of the current year, the ninth festival. Regards de femmes starts this Wednesday, November 10 at Ciné 102, an art and essay labeled showcase for research and discovery for young audiences, heritage and repertoire, in Pont-Saint-Esprit.

The 2021 program combines substance and consistency, “it’s a perfect mix of truth and spectacle” declares Christine Clerc, the deputy mayor in charge of culture, using Truffaut’s formula. After a blank “Covid” year, the unmissable autumnal tête à tête of the spiripontane city and the seventh art is back again with, on Sunday November 14 at 5 pm the preview screening of Les Amants, a 1 hour thriller 42 by Nicole Garcia with Stacy Martin, Pierre Niney and Benoît Magimel. Programmer of Ciné 102, and president of the Lay Association of Pont-Saint-Esprit Serre warns: “This festival is not like the others”.

And not just for its temporality! It lasts a week instead of two as in previous editions. Regards de femmes est “a festival that speaks” insists Christine Clerc. The event challenges the conscience. The chosen one salutes works “which are a reflection of contemporary society and highlight the issues and debates that drive it”.

The audience of Ciné 102 will thus discover a documentary by Nathan Grossman devoted to Greta Thunberg, who has become a planetary icon in the fight against climate change. The Regards de femmes festival also knows how to do in the dramatic genre with the poster Forgiveness, an Iranian feature film that tells the story of a young woman whose life is turned upside down when she learns that her husband has been executed for a crime he did not commit. As a nod to the news we can also quote Good mother a drama by Hafsia Herzi with Halima Benhamed, Sabrina Benhamed, Justine Grégory… Nora, in her fifties, a housekeeper by profession, watches over her little family in a city in the northern districts of Marseille. After a long period of unemployment, one night of bad inspiration, his eldest son Ellyes got lost in the robbery of a gas station …

And what about Compartment n ° 6, another find from programmer Serge Serre? In this film, the spectator is transported immediately into the saga of a young Finn who takes a train in Moscow to go to an archaeological site in the Arctic Sea. She is forced to share her compartment with a stranger. This cohabitation and improbable encounters will gradually bring these two beings who are in opposition to each other. With Titanium, the spectator plunges with short arms into a thriller, invited by the director Julia Ducournau with Garance Marillier, Sylvain Baumann, Vincent Lindon…

The Regards de femmes festival version 2021 also explores the offbeat environments of the porn industry through Pleasure. We also have the right to love and war, with the day and the hour and achievements which always exploit with the same talent, the vein of intrigue and suspense.
