After more than four years, the Judge Pablo Picazo Fosado, of the Superior Court of Justice of Mexico City, issued conviction of Abram “N”, a teacher who sexually abused a minor within the facilities of a school in the capital of the country.

According to the evidence presented by the agents of the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJ-CDMX), in 2017 this subject took advantage of the small Tefany, when I was three years old, inside the bathrooms of the Williams College, located in the Mixcoac neighborhood, in the Mayor Benito Juárez.

Therefore, the judicial authority determined a conviction of nine years and seven months in prison (in the East Prison) against Abram “N”, as well as his registration in the Public Registry of Sexual Offenders in the capital.

In addition, the individual will have to pay to repair the damage, the exercise of his profession was suspended for a term equal to the sentence and was prohibited from approaching or communicating with the victim.

The FGJCDMX reported that it continues to strengthen and directs its action to achieve a justice system that guarantees timely and effective access to justice for girls, boys and adolescents, thus reiterating its priority to care for victims with a differential approach and specialized.

Journalist Yohali Reséndiz from Formula Radio documented the case, indicating that on June 19, 2017 Tefany, after months of refusing to go to school, she told her mother what Professor Abram had done to her.

Worldwide, Mexico ranks 1st place in child sexual abuse with 5.4 million cases per year, reported the SOS Children’s Villages association in November 2020.

During the confinement caused by the pandemic of Covid-19, there was an increase in cases of violence against minors and women. From March to November of that year, more than 115 thousand emergency calls for incidents against women, girls and boys, such as sexual abuse, sexual harassment, rape, intimate partner violence and family violence.

According to SOS Children’s Villages, in early childhood (up to 5 years) the aggressors are usually: the stepfather, in 30% of the cases; grandparents, in another 30%, and uncles, cousins, siblings or caregivers in the remaining 40%.

The analysis presented by the association estimates that one in four girls and one in six boys are raped before reaching the age of majority. In addition, in four out of 10 sexual crimes the victims are minors.
