MTV Video Music Awards 2020 Winners: Full List

A new edition of the MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA) was held on Sunday, August 30, although this time, things were a bit different. As a security measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the show was held outdoors from five boroughs of New York (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island) and not from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, as reported originally planned.

This year, among the guests of Mtv were Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, among others. Likewise, the South Korean group Bts performed for the first time at the ceremony, which was also attended by the rapper Doja Cat, responsible for the hit “Say so”, with high expectations.

In addition to the categories already known, for the VMA 2020 two more were added in response to the coronavirus: Best Home Music Video and Quarantine Performance. Here is everything you need to know about this event.

THE MOST NOMINATED

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande led this year’s VMA nominations, with nine nominations each., including their joint hit “Rain On Me,” which was established as song of the year.

Behind them were Billie Eilish and The Weekend, with six nominations each, and Taylor Swift, with five mentions, as their acclaimed latest work “Folklore” was released after the deadline.

Among Latinos, of J Balvin’s four nominations, three were for Best Latino Video and another for his collaboration with the Black Eyed Peas on “Ritmo (Bad Boys For Life)”.

By category, the candidates for the best video clip of the year were, in addition to “Rain On Me”: “Everything I Wanted” by Billie Eilish, “Blinding Lights” by The Weekend, “The Man” by Taylor Swift, “Life Is Good” by Future ft. Drake and “Godzilla” by Eminem ft. Juice WRLD.

Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Megan Thee Stallion, Post Malone, Da Baby and The Weeknd competed to be named artist of the year. Gaga won.
