Lady Gaga triumphs at the MTV Video Music Awards: see the list of winners and winners

Lady gaga is back. Four years after publishing Joanne, and after trying both on the small and on the big screen with hits such as American horror story or A star has been born, the American artist has returned to her origins with Chromatic. An album, which hit the shelves last May, which, several months later, has once again lifted the singer to the Olympus of music at the MTV Video Music Awards gala.

After several years away from the world of music, the artist has won a total of five awards at a gala held at various locations in New York for security reasons. Among them, some like that of Best Song and Best Artist, two of the most anticipated of a night in which other artists such as Ariana Grande, The Weeknd or the South Korean band BTS, who performed for the first time in a gala of these characteristics, have also triumphed.

This has been the gala of the MTV VMA awards

The MTV awards gala has been atypical, as much as so many others that we have witnessed in recent months. And it is that, for security reasons, has been held without an audience from different corners of New York City. A series of locations from which we have been able to see the artists who have marked 2020 and concerts on improvised stages that, despite the current situation, have once again been impressive thanks to a staging that they have convinced.

Among the most outstanding performances of the night are that of The Weekndwho sang Blinding lights just a few moments before receiving the award for Best Music Video for that same song. Also that of the Koreans Bts, Who They performed for the first time at this gala before being crowned the best group of this year, or Miley Cyrus, who surprised the audience with Midnight sun.

But not everything has been music. During the gala there was also time to talk about the importance of following hygienic measures to face COVID-19 or to demand justice for Jacob Blake and Breonna Taylor. Also to pay tribute to actor Chadwick Boseman, who died last Friday of pancreatic cancer. In short, a gala in which much more has been said about music that has left us with a large number of winners.
