J Balvin collaborates with Pokémon on a new song ‘Take care’

Artists from around the world have come together to celebrate Pokémon’s 25th anniversary, with songs inspired by the global entertainment franchise and recorded exclusively for Pokémon 25: The Album.

The compilation was released today in digital format and on CD by Capitol Records, as part of a massive music campaign that took place over the course of a year by the International Pokémon Company in association with Universal Music Group. Get Pokémon 25: The Album.

In the video, shot in New York City, the award-winning Colombian singer shares with some of his favorite characters: Pikachu, Hitmontop, Totodile, Loudred and Charizard. Colin Tilley (Halsey, Kendrick Lamar, Cardi B), who directed Balvin’s MTV VMA award-winning video for “Rojo,” was the one who directed the audiovisual piece.

“I always wanted to be Ash Ketchum and through this collaboration with Pokémon I have been able to live a childhood dream,” said J Balvin.

He added that “that love for Pokémon has inspired ‘Be Careful’, my contribution to P25 Music, as well as the video where I put myself in the shoes of a Pokémon trainer in New York City. French singer Louane and British artists Mabel and Jax Jones with Sinead Harnett testify to the universal appeal of Pokémon. Post Malone offers “Only Wanna Be With You (Pokémon version 25),” a surprising version of the Hootie and the Blowfish hit, and Katy Perry’s “Electric” is the lead single. Director Eric Maldin (U2, 30 Seconds To Mars) takes Vince Staples, Mabel and Cyn on a surreal walk through memory, exploring their early experiences with Pokémon and the process of creating their original songs for P25, at the new video series “Evolution of a Song”. The episodes also feature ZHU in the studio, reflecting on the evolution of his remixes of Staples’s “Got ‘Em” and Cyn’s “Wonderful,” which are on the digital edition alongside his remix of “Take It Home.” Mabel.
