BTS had a dynamite night at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards

BTS won four awards at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards and in addition, he carried out an “explosive” presentation from Seoul, South Korea, of his new song “Dynamite”, being the first time that “The Princes of Pop” are presented in this awards ceremony that for years has been a reference in pop culture. It is also worth mentioning that the MTV VMAs (awarded by the American television network MTV since 1984) are one of the most important award ceremonies in the music industry.

This year the Idols garnered four nominations, which they won thanks to the efforts of the ARMY. These are the MTV Video Music Awards that BTS won:

  • Best K-Pop.
  • Best group.
  • Best Pop.
  • Best Choreography for his MV “ON”.

“Thank you so much for Best Pop at the MTV VMAs,” J-Hope expressed in a video that BTS posted. Jungkook commented on this triumph: “We are sincerely honored and the contributions are given to ARMY, those who support us and those who are involved in our music,” to which Jimin added: “They mean a lot to us.”

RM, leader of BTS, said when winning the “Moon Man” for Best Pop: “Through our new single ‘Dynamite’, we sincerely hope that everyone receives only messages of positive energy and good energy.” Jin mentioned:

V highlighted: “this music is for you”. Suga concluded the video by saying a sweet: “I love you ARMY! Let’s remember that last year at these awards, Bangtan took home Best Group and Best K-Pop.

One of the most anticipated performances of the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, was undoubtedly that of BTS. RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, performed the first “live” performance of their new song “Dynamite”. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s VMAs featured shows from remote locations and the “Bulletproof Boys” stage took place in Seoul, South Korea.

BTS’s presentation took place in front of a chroma that simulated some iconic places in New York such as Times Square and the Brooklyn Bridge. In an appropriately “explosive” ending, a fireworks display lit up the sky with BTS in the foreground. We cannot fail to mention that the idols wore fabulous outfits that complemented their show that marked their official debut at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Moreover, Billboard has announced the top 10 on its Hot 100 chart for the week ending September 5, and the chart ranks the most popular songs in the United States across all genres based on playback, radio broadcast, and sales data. BTS’s “Dynamite” has charted at # 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart., being the highest ranking on the chart achieved by a Korean artist, breaking the record set by PSY’s “Gangnam Style” that peaked at # 2 in 2012.

According to Nielsen Music / MRC Data, “Dynamite” achieved 33.9 million streams in the United States and 300,000 sales in its first week, which ended on August 27. It garnered 11.6 million radio audience impressions in the week ending August 30.
