Megan Fox sober: why the evening of the Golden Globes 2009 made her decide to quit alcohol

Sober for several years, Megan Fox decided to quit alcohol after a disastrous Golden Globe night in 2009, during which she said some very embarrassing things.

It took an unfortunate click for her to stop drinking. In a recent interview with the podcast Who What Wear, Megan Fox revisited her iconic red carpet looks since the start of her career. And if her satin and gold dress that she wore at the Golden Globes in 2009 is one of the most memorable outfits as the actress was sublime, it turns out that this evening remains a bitter memory for her, after which she decided to stop consume alcohol. “Now I don’t drink anymore, and here’s why: I was belligerent and said a bunch of bullshit I shouldn’t have said on the red carpet that night, she admitted.

The companion of Machine Gun Kelly has indeed explained to have drunk too much during this evening when she was sitting at a table with Blake Lively and the Jonas Brothers. “At the Golden Globes, they always put these giant bottles of Moët champagne on the table, I drank several glasses”, she lamented, before remembering her disastrous stint on the red carpet, where she was questioned by journalists, to whom she told “want to” breasts “incredible and perfect” like Salma Hayek, but also to throw a spade about her then-husband Brian Austin Green: He doesn’t want to be my date. He’s a man – he’s got an ego. I think he’s probably working on music; i don’t think he cares [de regarder l’émission]”.

What consequence did this evening have for Megan Fox?

An exit which probably reached the ears of the actor at the time, and which caused a lot of problems subsequently to Megan Fox. In February 2009, while she had been engaged since 2006 to Brian Austin Green, the celebrity press announced their separation, before they got back together a few months later. A separation, of short duration, which may have been caused by this little phrase uttered by the intoxicated actress, who had also joked that evening by saying that she was “hungry for a month” to have an hourglass figure, causing controversy. We now understand better why in 2013, Megan Fox had confided that she did not like to drink because she did not appreciate feel out of control.
