Brad Pitt missed the Baftas to support his daughters who had just had surgery

The 56-year-old actor allegedly cited “family reasons” to explain his absence during the ceremony which took place in London on February 2. The hero of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood would indeed have remained in Los Angeles, to support his daughters.

Despite his noticeable absence, he had triggered the hilarity of Prince William and Kate Middleton thanks to a joke about the Sussex couple. Crowned Best Supporting Actor at the British Academy Film Awards (Bafta) ceremony on February 2, Brad Pitt had indeed asked his filming partner Margot Robbie to read his acceptance speech, after canceling his participation in the last minute. The reason for his absence? The 56-year-old actor would have remained in Los Angeles for “family reasons”, revealed the Sun, Monday February 3.

“Children come first”

Rumors suggested that Brad Pitt had missed the Bafta ceremony in an attempt to reconcile with his eldest son, Maddox, 18. The American actor would however have gone to Los Angeles, at the bedside of his two daughters who had just undergone surgery. Shiloh, 13, was reportedly undergoing hip surgery, while Zahara, 15, was not given the reason for the surgery. For Brad Pitt, “children come before everything”, would have confided a source close to Page Six. This explains the absence of the actor during the Bafta ceremony.
